"Always Winter But Never Christmas"

We didn't get this GLorious Scene for Christmas but it was Wonderful

I am sure that you from Utah can't bear to see your own snow let alone someone else's but this was just not a typical snow for Fallon.  It started a bit after we got home from Church on Sunday and just was coming down in gentle huge flakes. It just kept snowing. For us this means plenty of water in the summer, if things like the levee in Fernely don't break. But aside from all that it was just a glorious morning. It was a federal holiday so LaVar didn't have to go to work and we just went out walking a took some pictures. 

The first ones are about sunrise and then the sun comes out.

We are LIVING in our LIVINGROOM

This weekend was a great one for us. For the most part we finished our last big project as far as rooms in our home go. I don't mean the yard because it is still just dirt... We ran out of wall paint because we didn't calculate that it would take 2 coats ( go figure... just didn't think about that) and we were short floor tiles because we changed the shape around the wood stove. When we were finished we just sat in it and admired it. We didn't want to leave, it has been a long time coming. We would like to thank-you Tyler for your wonderful advise, we just love it all and without your thinking about it we would never have chosen these colors and elements. We have all the trim to do through out the house and many more details to complete, but we feel quite accomplished. We didn't do a few things because we have chosen to work on the house, this last Saturday we were asked to go help with the clean-up in Fernley, we had Carlos already scheduled so we stayed home and finished this job. 

The end of the room that you don't see, has a "Tyler" dining table and chairs to seat 10. We actually need a larger table for the Sunday dinners we hope to host more often.  We are still sweeping up drywall dust... guess that's going to last awhile. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. The grandparents have had  a virus but they seem to be doing a bit better today. They didn't go to church nor are they going to the dinner. They are just loving their HDTV they feel pretty up-to-date.

even the wood stove got a fresh coat of spray paint made for bar-B-ques and wood stoves. I'll let you know how it works.

One More Step in the Process

The ceiling is mostly finished. After we got it painted we all could see exactly where the seams of the dry wall are. Carlos had to refill all of the seams and sand, primer and paint again, ( therefore I need to clean up the drywall dust yet again). Of course this would have been way easier to have done it right the first time. 

Here are two pictures of the paint colors Tyler. The one behind the cabinet is the Bird Nest, deep richer, red tones. And the other is the Light Chocolate. I am having trouble imagining it all over. I like the richer one but feel safer with the Chocolate...... aah, just having a hard time. Near the chair is the cork that will be on the floor. Have any more advice for us? We have always loved the colors you have suggested in the past, after it's put all together. Remember about the purple couch.  Its not the black that Brad suggested but it is surely dark. 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAMPA!!

This is a picture of our TV. Rowena called in to have this show on the CC Communications channel 1 all day! So that was a fun thing to do! We went out to dinner in a downpour and it was still fun. We hope his birthday was a happy one. 

Progress on the Family Room

Ok, Tyler this one's for you. Thanks for asking! 

We made the beams out of MDF. Have east/west beams that cover the old ones and north/south beams are smaller. We filled them  and sanded them, the dust is terrible, and the drywall sanding with it its hard to clean up. I spent most of the day working on that. We are having a powerful storm. Wind and rain. A little sparrow came in an open window. I had it open to take out some of the dust from the wet/dry vacuum that wasn't working well. I remembered a story that they have told at church. I turned off all the lights and he just left after he followed the light from the window. Tomorrow we will caulk and prime them for the color to go on another day. THIS IS PROGRESS!!

These are beautiful Amarylis that I planted in a pot. They bloomed just in time for Christmas. Our rendition of Tyler's idea with the ribbons and balls.

This is our little artificial tree. We had dinner @ Grandma Cecile's with Brett and Rowena, Rosalina, (Jon didn't feel well) and Claudette and Jim. Look at all the red! We played games and then it began to snow. I had a picture of the outside of our house but it wouldn't download, so maybe later. So went our 2007 Christmas in Fallon.
