Now we can say "It is Sold"!

We can now say that our beautiful home is sold. Our agent David Block suggested we not say much until the sale seemed final. We listed the house Friday April 3 2009, then went out to dinner with David and his wife Linda, our idea of hometeaching. That was a Friday evening, before dinner was over he had a call requesting a showing on Saturday morning. The house showed several more times.
April 25 we were expecting Katherine (Petersen) and Andy Mace who were bringing their dog up for a competition (see previous blog on Brox). LaVar was outside fixing a broken sprinkler when a SUV pulled up. LaVar was not able to see who was in the car very well but assumed it was Andy and Kate. He waved friendly to them, and a man and woman got out of the car and because of LaVar's manners he was brave enough to ask for a tour. We did show them the house, even though we really knew it would have been wiser to ask him to come back with his agent, etc. He is a Dr and would like this home as his beach house.....ummm. So to make a long story shorter, he has signed most of the papers and it is scheduled to close July 8th. They gave us a few months more and we are grateful for that. Twenty seven days start to finish is great in this ecomony is wonderful.
The second thing is, we are not going to South Texas as we had wanted to, so plan B is to move to Alexandria closer to LaVar's headquarters. Since Micah and Stephanie would like to move from Fredericksburg and they work in Gainsville. We are considering finding a home we could share and share expenses. So we need a house with 2 livings areas, a garage and not opposed to a pet named Max that is half way between Alexandria and Gainsville areas.
LaVar's replacement isn't going to be coming until late September, early October. Dave and Linda Block have a beach house we might rent that for part of that time. I am going to Rachel's for the arrival of little Naomi Avalee in late July. We are thinking the time will go by fast.
The rest of the plan is, LaVar's company will pack us up and move everything into storage for a couple of months and we will be "houseless" again. Then we will rent a home up north for a few years, save our money and plan on retirement and a mission in a few years.

Brox the Dock Dog World Champion

One day (in April) Kate (Katerine Petersen) and Andy Mace brought their dog Brox, hope I am spelling that right, to Norfolk for a competition. The dogs are held on the dock or some other way gotten into position to jump high to get or knock down a "toy" that is held high over water. Since he was a puppy Andy and Brox would just play a game like this. They didn't find out about this whole community that compete for records until he was older, in his first competition he got the world record. If I am not mistaken that was 7 ft. 10 in. Kate you can correct me on that. Hope this gets you this video because try as I might the email just wouldn't go. Let me know because I have more.

California Dreaming

I am here in McAllen Texas waiting as it seems to see our dream job materialize. We had planned this house hunting trip on “our schedule”. We haven’t heard from South Texas College but from calling them we do understand where in the process they are. So with a lot of hope and faith we have come down here if for nothing more than a nice visit and getting the “lay of the land”. I am at the main library and thought I would do another catch up blog. But again the connection is very slow, so no videos will download maybe I will get LaVar to do that at home.
These pictures are from the California visit. After Tim's graduation we went to a beach that Laura and Tim really like. We saw some wonderful things, the weather was perfect and we had a good time.
Sam is examining the tide pools for sea urchins and hermit crabs, they were plentiful there.

Rachel, a photographer was out on some rocks like these with an engaged couple, the groom had on dress shoes and nice pants. The tide came in so slowly that no one noticed until they were finished, them getting back to shore was entertaining. The all got very wet and the shoes did too even though he took both the shoes and socks off. They were good sports about it.
Skipping rocks was a favorite thing to do and all the guys got pretty good at it.
There were many of these wonderful rocks filled with holes. In a garden these would be so fun to use. Plant little plants inside the holes or just like that would be interesting. I wonder what made the holes? Thanks Tim and Laura, Sam and Hadley for the good time.

We were so happy to have been able to go to California and attend Timothy's Graduation from Art Center, in Pasadena California.

There was a presentation on a big screen that showed pictures of all the graduates.

Ketchup!

When Tyler, Charlotte and the kids came for Easter we did some fun things. We went down to Waterside in downtown Norfolk and saw many Naval related things, including this statue honoring sailors.

We took a ride around the harbor on this tour boat The Victory Rover. It was a bit chilly after a while.


Next stop was Nauticus. Some of the exhibits were fun,
some just scary.....

Norfolk's Botanical gardens was the next day and it was only slightly warmer, but it was just beautiful anyway.

Virginia Beach in March is quite cold. But a brave girl can build a sand castle quickly anyway. You can tell by her face and hands how cold it was that day, and very windy, but the beach is the beach......
Now what is wrong with this picture? The boy is playing with the IPhone and the dad is coloring with crayons?? That is a happy face on Ollie if you couldn't tell. We have more pictures if someone wants to see more....... so glad you came.
